We are joining forces with the Sylvia Center along with Gaskins, Germantown Library, and Germantown Food Pantry to provide 7 weeks of meal kits to 25 local families so they can participate in online cooking classes together. The Sylvia Center is a non-profit and their mission is to inspire young people to become healthy eaters and advocates for healthy food in their families and communities. The theme is “Noodles Around the World” (above image) and Chef Bobby will be teaching the class on Japanese Noodles. We were also able to get each family a counter compost bin from Bamboozle, so that they can drop off their food scraps at Otto’s or begin composting at home! If you are interested in supporting the Sylvia Center and the amazing work they are doing in our communities, you can donate directly on their website or add $5 to your online or in-store purchases at Otto’s. The money raised will go towards covering the costs of each of these meals kits, paying the instructor, and future programming. Thanks to the generous book donations from Donald + Doris Dubac, we will be setting up a book sale outside of Otto’s this weekend (weather permitting). All donations raised will go to the Germantown Library! Coming Soon : We are also collaborating with the Library to build a mini free library for the Hamlet Park that Donald + Doris will keep stocked with wonderful, free books for the community. CHINESE NEW YEARThe Chinese New Year is just around the corner (February 12th) and we are celebrating by offering dumpling kits! We now have frozen spring roll and dumpling wrappers in our freezer section and will soon be selling a pre-made dumpling filling consisting of cabbage, ground pork, garlic, scallions, chives, and ginger.
